TEXT Hello... This is my first post... I am the proud owner of 2 baby RES... Maximus and Frodo They now reside in a new 50 Gallon tank with a magnum 350 filter and a tronic heater... I rigged a basking area with a turtle dock and rocks to boost it above water level but am looking for better suggestions.

Hey good to have you on the boards. They are jsut starting to bare with use until more people find the forums.
Your setup sounds good. Do you have any pics? We could help you more that way. Sounds like you have all the essentials. What about aquatic plants like Anacharis? Mine love it as a hiding place and as an occasional snack. Chris

Hey I'm Jen, I own two RES (Snap and Tuck) and I am thinking I may have to adopt one out of my home as I'm moving into my own apartment soon and probably can only have around a 55 gallon tank. I'm pretty sure both my RES are female... Just wondering where you'd get Anacharis, I keep hearing about it on other forums and stuff. I belong to Happy Turtle's Pub Forum and Turtle Forum.com, where I found out about this. Actually I think I was a member of the original because I think I remember Chez IMing me one day about this new forum. I live in the Boston area and hopefully will be getting pics of the little guys soon! ;D

*Cheap shot at plugging GTT:r's Store ;D * GTT:r is affiliated with PETsMART! You can buy Anacharis through us. www.gttreloaded.com/store.html, and click the button that says Free Shipping on orders of $50.00 or more, and that will take you to PETsMARTS site, and give GTT:r commission off your sale! Cool, thanks! I was also wondering if algae might be harmful for my two RES, there seems to be some build up on their basking spot. Anything i should do?

Algae is a sign of a healthy tank enviornment. Algae grows in a warm, wet place, such as the basking spot. It can deplete oxygen levels in your tank if there is a lot of it. If you are using a power filter (the kind that hang on the rim of your tank) then you will be fine. There are numerous chemicals that you can put add to the water to kill algae. But don't bother if its not that bad. Algae itself will not harm your turtles. You can try to position your lamp so the light hits a least water as possible. [glow=blue,2,300]:Chez[/glow]
