I am including UVB lighting in my setups.....my guys needs were being met through diet.....
but I have run into a snag - the tube style lighting is not going to work....hood doesnt fit over my basking platform walls....so I need to use regular lightbulb style UVB lights....
Anyone use the above mentioned one....Active UV Heat Bulbs, from TRex....thanks all

I want one, they sound pretty cool ;D. Can get rid of the ugly hood on my tank. Supposedly they emit 5 times more UV-A&B than Reptisun, etc. and last a whole year. I did a search on them, and no one had anything bad to say about them (real people, not advertisers). One guy, who seems to be a lightbulb fanatic , said that if your basking area is less than 3 feet from the basking spot, use the flood type instead of the spot type bulb (which come in 100 and 160 watt, and cost around $35.00) [glow=blue,2,300]:Chez[/glow]

I use the UVB basking bulb over the basking spot along with a UVB flourescent bulb over the other part of my set ups. The UVB basking bulbs are great but they don't last as long as originally claimed, from the info I have gathered. Their UVB output drops after 6mos. and they should be replaced after 12-18mos. I had one of the original ones that came out a few years ago and I used it for 2yrs before it burnt out. But at the time they were claimed to last 3 years and put out the almost the same amount of UVB as new.
