Hello All Been away....but I am back..... These lagoons I know as death bowls; they have been around for way to long in my opinion.....any site that advocates them I do not use in any shape way or form. I will admit that 20 years ago I brought my guy home in one of those, but within a week, pops bought me a tank and fish and worms Jinx

Next to bombs, and the Bush family, I believe that they are the scariest things ever invented. [glow=blue,2,300]:Chez[/glow]

I totally agree with you all. In fact, I wrote an article about it on my website. Take a few minutes and check it out, tell me what you think! My web-site is listed both in my profile and in my signature below.

I totally agree with you all. In fact, I wrote an article about it on my website. Take a few minutes and check it out, tell me what you think! My web-site is listed both in my profile and in my signature below. Interesting article......I can feel your passion about getting your message across concerning lagoons. Well written. I enjoyed it. But I have to say one thing and I am not trying to offend or put down your article, all of it except this one part was good....(this is a pet peeve of mine).....in one area of your article you wrote.... "Red Eared Sliders need at least 4 gallons of water per inch of body length." The general rule of thumb is actually 10gallons per inch of turtle......and my pet peeve is that even that is to small an estimate for a long term permanent set up. It is a good rule of thumb for estimates for temporary homes, but not a permanent home. I would suggest adding that there are numerous "rule of thumbs". But your personal preference is 4gallons per inch of turtle. My personal preference is more like 20-30gallons per inch of turtle for their permanent homes. Other than that, I did enjoy the article and have put your site into my favs to look for future updates to the site (which also looks good......great job). Jinx

Thank you for the heads up! I'm not offended in anyway, I appreciate the fact that you care enough to make suggestions on how to make my article better. Also, when I said that RES needed 4 gallons per inch. that was simply a place holder, because at the time that I wrote it, I wasn't totally sure. I did find that turtles need 10 gallons of water per inch of body length, but I simply hadn't gotten around to fixing it. I'm a little lazy sometimes, and have neglected my site some this week. Also, I added in that 10 gallons was only a general rule, and that in permanent setups, some prefer 20-30 gallons. Thanks again!!
