I have seen articles that state the Yellow Belly turtles can go to 12+ inches.(not sure what the + means) Does anybody know what actual size they can possibly grow to. We have two of them for just a little over a year , since having them in small tank, they have gone from quarter size to 3" diameter. Also curious on approx. thickness as well. We are looking at very large aquariums with the adquate filter system. At this point we may be investing into a 400 gallon plus tank.

Hey Mendi, the '+' means 'or more'. YBS males will generally reach 7-8", females most commonly get to 10", but will sometimes grow up to 13". A rule that a lot of turtle keepers follow is 10g of tank per inch of turtle. The minimum size tank I would recommend is a 200g, but if you can afford the 400g, I'd bet your turtles will love it.
